Environmental fate specialist (and dedicated dancer)

After a brief transition to the Client Services group as support for Environmental Sciences, Hazel moved to JSC in October 2009 as an Environmental Fate expert.

Hazel graduated from Bradford University in 1999 with a BSc (hons) in Environmental Sciences and a Diploma in Professional Studies gained on a year working for Severn Trent Water. After a brief foray into research for a pet food company, she joined Covance Laboratories in Harrogate working firstly for the Field Trials department and then moving to Environmental Fate. In this role she spent 9 years as a Study Supervisor working on all types of Environmental Fate and Residue studies and becoming the Plant Metabolism expert. She also studied part-time to gain an MSc in Analytical Chemistry at Huddersfield University and had the honour of shaking Patrick Stewart’s hand at the graduation ceremony.

Hazel has been studying Middle Eastern dance for over 5 years and performs at various functions as a soloist and in a troupe. She loves the North African culture and food and is also learning Arabic. She plans to travel back to Cairo in the near future to purchase more costumes!
