Lucy joined JSC in 1996 and enjoyed the client interactions and challenges of the regulatory environment so much that she and her husband purchased the company from the US parent in 2004.
Lucy’s degree in Ecology included a year working in industry, which she did at Shell Research in Sittingbourne, working on some of the very first mesocosms with Norman Crossland. She graduated during the last big recession and, being unable to find a job in her chosen field, retrained as a Microbiologist while working for the Public Health Laboratory Services. She then went on to be the Company Microbiologist for Rimmel International, the cosmetic company.
After relocating to Yorkshire, Lucy made her first foray into Regulatory Affairs when she joined the Regulatory Group at Covance Laboratories.
Lucy has been involved in all Lists under the EU Review programme as well as new active substances. She provides regulatory strategic advice and project management to clients for large scale dossier projects as well as National product registration work. She has a good understanding of the specific Member State requirements and has developed excellent contacts in most of the 27 EU Member States, many of which she has visited.
Lucy is fascinated by both ancient and modern cultures and her ambition is to visit all the countries in the world taking in as many UNESCO World Heritage Sites as possible on the way. She maintains her health by keeping to a vegetarian diet and practicing yoga. On 06 August 2009 she made an appearance on the Antony Gormley Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London doing yoga in the rain
