Comparative Assessment: Draft EPPO Guidance on Efficacy and Resistance Management Aspects

The UK regulatory authority (CRD) has recently commissioned a consultation exercise on draft guidance that has been prepared by EPPO on the efficacy aspects of comparative assessment, following extensive discussion among member country and industry experts. Regulation EC 1107/2009 concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market, requires that comparative assessment and substitution is conducted as part of the registration procedure for plant protection products. This procedure will apply by 2014 and will involve those substances identified as candidates for substitution.
