Human Health Consultant
Pete Miles
Human Safety consultant (and long-distance runner)

Pete joined JSC in 2010 and applies his expertise in human exposure and risk assessment across all areas of European chemical regulations.

Having graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Chemistry, Pete spent three years at the Institute of Horticultural Research at Wellesbourne (formerly the National Vegetable Research Station, for those old enough to remember it!) working on the influence of early plant nutrition on plant growth, using hydroponic techniques. Pete then joined Syngenta (formerly Zeneca) and worked for 16 years in areas related to human exposure, including metabolism, residues and consumer risk assessment. He has worked on projects in the EU Review process since List 2 and on new ai projects.

In his spare time, Pete enjoys long-distance running, in particular trail running in the mountains and at the coast.  On slightly less energetic days, he loves to get out walking in the hills.  Pete is also a keen photographer and in particular capturing landscapes and seascapes.
