Metabolism
The fate of an active in crops and livestock needs to be understood before crop residue studies and livestock residue transfer studies can be successfully planned. We have considerable practical experience in conducting these studies, and know what is achievable and how it should be presented.
Plant metabolism studies in relevant crops are essential for all active substances in order to determine the crop residue definition. However, carefully considered extrapolation to other crops can help to minimise the number of studies required when there is an extensive GAP. The effect of different application routes and rates also needs to be considered when designing studies to ensure the application is applicable to the representative use or GAP.Livestock metabolism studies are not always required, and a case can often be prepared for non-relevance.
