REACH has a shaky start

2009 has been a key year for REACH.  Early in the year it became evident that the number of pre-registrations was far in excess of what had been anticipated by ECHA. In total approximately 2.75 million preregistrations were submitted for about 150,000 substances from 65,000 companies. During 2009 companies that had pre-registered substances were able to identify which other organizations had pre-registered the same substance, to allow substance equivalence to be established and for SIEF’s to form.
