Simon Ford
Environmental fate modeller (and combine driver)
Simon joined JSC in 2012 and his experience in regulatory modelling enhances the Environmental Fate team
From an agricultural background, Simon graduated from Harper Adams University College with a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Crop Science. After university, he joined the ADAS soil and water research group before taking up a position as a fate and exposure modeller within Cambridge Environmental Assessments.
Simon joined JSC as a member of the Environmental Fate team in 2012 as an experienced regulatory modeller, specialising in higher tier assessments for plant protection products (including the development of specific scenarios for complex modelling situations) and indepth kinetic assessments. He also has considerable programming skills and has developed tools for parameterisation, automation and synergy of models, including the SWASH UK scenarios launcher, developed for CRD within the FOCUS UK relevance project (PS2229).
Away from work Simon enjoys an energetic lifestyle playing football, golf, squash and running. He is a dedicated family man, but his wife, daughter and the family Labrador have to do without him for a few weeks during the summer when he spends long evenings driving a combine harvester for a local farming friend.
