UK requirements for Material Safety Data Sheets

CRD has recently issued new guidance on the submission of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for co-formulants contained in plant protection products, because some of those submitted with applications are unsatisfactory.  This results in delays in finalising evaluations and reduced efficiency.  CRD requests that applicants who need to submit MSDS present them as follows:

• In English;
• Revised within last 2 years;
• In compliance with the EU format (e.g. according to Annex II and articles 31 & 32 of Regulation 1907/2006).

The submission of MSDS that do not meet these requirements may lead to rejection of an application or to delays in evaluation.  

If an applicant is unable to source MSDS in the appropriate format they should identify this in the covering letter and present a clear explanation of the composition of the co-formulant and its classification according to EU criteria. These will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
