EU to discuss EDC criteria

The European Commission’s health directorate (DG Sante) has announced another discussion and possible vote, on the latest proposed criteria to identify endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) will be held at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (SCoPAFF) on 4 July 2017.

Two draft legal acts setting out the criteria to identify endocrine disruptors for biocidal and plant protection products (BP and PPP, respectively) were presented by the EU Commission on 15 June 2016. Since then a number of meetings with experts and Member States have taken place, each resulting in changes to the draft documents.

A further meeting will take place in July where it is expected that Member States will discuss and possibly give their opinion on the draft act under the PPP legislation. Feedback on this will be provided once available. Further information is available at: http://ec.europa.eu/health/endocrine_disruptors/next_steps_en
