NEW ENFORCEMENT PROJECTS: EU-WIDE CONTROL OF CHEMICALS SOLD ONLINE AND TREATED ARTICLES

The Enforcement Forum and its Biocidal Product Regulation Subgroup (BPRS) started preparations for a coordinated project (REF-8) to control the chemicals sold online in EU and EEA Member States.

The aim of the project will be to check duties under REACH restriction, classification, labelling and packaging as well as BPR duties relevant to biocidal products sold online.

Inspectors will identify common methods of targeting goods online and dealing with internet duty holders in 2019. Inspections will be carried out during 2020 and the report is expected in 2021.

The REF (REACH-EN-FORCE) projects are carried out by inspectors based in the national authorities in the participating Member States.

Furthermore, the BPRS adopted the manual for its first harmonised enforcement project (BEF-1) on the obligations of treated articles so that the inspections in 28 participating countries can start at the beginning of 2019. Enforcement of treated articles duties will aim at covering the full supply chain including duty holders making treated article available on the market.
