Andrew has over thirty years’ experience in regulation and risk assessment of chemicals in the EU, working in industry, contract research and consultancy sectors. His early career was spent with ICI Plant Protection division at Jealott’s Hill Research Centre in Berkshire working in the environmental sciences facility. During this time he gained his degree in Chemistry from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Moving to contract research in 1989, Andrew expanded his knowledge and experience in the field of environmental fate and plant metabolism as a Study Director. The regulatory affairs world called in 2002 with a move into consultancy, where Andrew quickly became responsible for the management of agrochemical regulatory submissions, advising companies on registration requirements and the development of data packages. Transitioning to the regulation of biocides in 2007 his role expanded to include the technical management of an EU Task Force supporting a multi-active biocide dossier submission, as well as taking a lead consulting position providing technical advice, regulatory awareness and strategy for a wide range of biocide companies supporting active substance approval and product authorisation within the EU.
Outside work Andrew enjoys his garden; walking in the Yorkshire Dales and also further afield, in particular Italy. He is a keen follower of cricket and listens to music of all types, but maturing into classical music in recent years, especially if it is live.
